Newcastle United were emphatically beaten during their Premier League Asia Cup game against Wolves.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s team were far better than the Magpies, who today appointed Steve Bruce as the club’s new manager (Official Website).
The 4-0 drubbing by their Premier League rivals hands Bruce some serious work to do with his new charges.
Wolves were three to the good at the break. A Diogo Jota brace and a goal from Morgan Gibbs-White handing them a firm advantage.

Newcastle did improve during the second period – although performing any worse would have been challenging!
The Magpies couldn’t go the half without conceding, however. A Tom Allan own goal in the 86th minute ensuring a rout for Wolves.
Despite this only being a pre-season contest, the result has left Newcastle fans devastated.
The atmosphere could turn toxic around St James’ Park very quickly this season, particularly if performances of this nature persist.
The vast majority of supporters don’t want Bruce anywhere near the football club and he has his work cut out to win them over.

Following the game, supporters were quick to offer their thoughts on the performance on Twitter.
