Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Lyon striker Moussa Dembele with the potential new owners keen to sign a prolific striker – and Toon supporters have reacted on Twitter, urging their club to complete a move.
Bleacher Report claimed on Friday afternoon that Dembele was being eyed by the club’s new-look board, as they look to replace Joelinton. ESPN had claimed that the agents of Edinson Cavani and Dries Mertens had been contacted.
Dembele, 23, has been in excellent form this season. He has scored 22 goals in 42 league and cup appearances for Lyon this season, laying on seven assists. Since his £20million move from Celtic, Dembele has netted 42 goals in 88 outings.
Such form saw The Daily Star claim Manchester United were willing to splash a whopping £60million to sign the former Fulham striker, who is still yet to win a call-up to the senior France squad – instead playing 25 times for the Under-21 outfit.

Newcastle are likely to want to sign a new striker after club-record signing Joelinton flopped, netting only one Premier League goal in 27 league games. Dembele has been eyed as the man to replace the Brazilian.
Now-Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers signed Dembele for Celtic and worked alongside him for two seasons. He heaped praise on the striker after his first season at Celtic, as per the Scottish Sun: “He is a top talent, a fantastic player.”
Newcastle supporters reacted on Twitter to the reported news that their club were set to rival Manchester United for the ex-Celtic striker, and many are keen to see the young Frenchman in black and white.
