Newcastle fans offer heartfelt thanks to departing striker

Salomon Rondon played his last game for the Magpies yesterday and he will now rejoin parent club West Brom.

Newcastle United rounded off their 2018/19 campaign with an emphatic 4-0 win over already-relegated Fulham. Goals from Jonjo Shelvey, Ayoze Perez, Fabian Schar and Salomon Rondon saw the Magpies home.

The win saw Rafa Benitez’s men end the season in 13th place and the supporters will hope the Spaniard oversees a summer spending spree. The manager’s future needs sorting out first, with Benitez coming to the end of his current deal.

One man who the Toon Army would love to see back at St James’ Park next season is Rondon. The Venezuelan powerhouse has netted 12 goals and contributed seven assists during his season-long loan.

The option is in place for Newcastle to land Rondon permanently but it remains to be seen whether the hierarchy will sanction the deal. It has been thought that the club might opt to land younger players and at 29, Rondon doesn’t really fit the bill.

Ask the Magpies supporters though and they would sign him in a flash. Following yesterday’s win, the supporters took to Twitter to thank the big striker for his efforts.

Rondon has captured the hearts of the supporters and the rapport is mutual. The target man took to Twitter to thank the Toon Army for the support they have given him and received lots of heartfelt thanks in return.
