Newcastle United might be wondering if they signed the wrong Murphy twin
In July 2017 Newcastle United snapped up talented Norwich City youngster Jacob Murphy. The winger had just had an excellent campaign with the Canaries, scoring 10 goals in 40 appearances.
The fee involved was reportedly in the region of £12 million and fans were hopeful he could be a major coup for Newcastle.
So far, it has been something of a tepid start to life at St James’ Park. He played 28 times last season but provided just one assist and scored one goal. This season has been a similarly lukewarm start. He has played just six times in the Premier League and not featured in Newcastle’s last four games.

Fans might be starting to wonder if they signed the wrong twin.
Jacob’s brother Josh Murphy was on the move this summer. He joined newly promoted Cardiff City in a deal reportedly worth £11 million.
His form has been far more electric. Cardiff fans have been very impressed by the attacker, whose pace and directness has left several defenders in knots this season. Against Fulham, a game in which he scored his second goal of the season, he forced Calum Chambers to be substituted after terrorising the Arsenal loanee for 45 minutes.
There is no doubt that Josh has had the better start to life in the Premier League. Newcastle fans are still waiting for Jacob to get going.
