If Martin Dubravka leaves then Newcastle United must land Jack Butland from Stoke City

The Magpies stopper could depart in the summer which would leave the club in the hunt for a replacement.

Newcastle United could find themselves in the market for a new goalkeeper this summer, with Chronicle Live reporting interest in Martin Dubravka.

The Magpies are said to have opened talks with their stopper over a new deal, but the report suggests that Juventus and Premier League clubs remain interested.

The 30-year has played every league game for Rafa Benitez’s team this season and his departure would leave a big void.

The Slovakian has kept nine clean sheets this season and is firmly established as the club’s number one.

When a club like Juventus comes calling, however, the lure can prove too good to turn down.

Should Newcastle find themselves in a position where they need a new goalkeeper, they should throw their weight behind Jack Butland.

According to reports in The Sun, the England stopper will be moving on from Stoke in the summer with £15 million being brandished as the valuation.

The 26-year-old has kept 14 clean sheets in 37 matches this season for the Potters.

Butland’s England credentials haven’t been hampered by playing in the Championship.

Newcastle can show real ambition by landing a goalkeeper who would massively improve their team.

The Magpies can land a custodian who boasts superb distribution, commands his box with aplomb and who is yet to hit peak form.

Benitez would dearly like to keep Dubravka, but if he can’t then he should do all he can to secure Butland.
