TBR Football can now exclusively deliver the latest transfer update coming from Newcastle United, and it represents a blow to Crystal Palace.
The Magpies are yet to make a new signing for the first-team this summer, but efforts are being made in the background to improve the squad for Eddie Howe.
TBR Football understand Newcastle United are keen to sign James Trafford – but are currently unwilling to meet Burnley’s £40m asking price.
The England U21 international would potentially replace Nick Pope – who Leeds United are keen on.
As that situation continues, Newcastle United have now beaten Crystal Palace to the signing of Seung-soo Park.
Newcastle United believe they have won the race to sign Seung-soo Park
Graeme Bailey – Chief Correspondent for TBR Football – has now been informed that Newcastle United think they have secured the South Korea U20 international’s signature.
We understand the 18-year-old was also attracting interest from other Premier League sides in Crystal Palace, Wolves and Brighton.
BlueCo and the City Football Group – who own Chelsea and Manchester City respectively – were also interested in recruiting the teenager, but Newcastle United are now set to finalise a deal for the winger.
The move fits in with a policy the Magpies have adopted in recent years, placing a keen focus on snapping up some of the best young talent from across the globe.
Newcastle United have already signed Antonio Cordero from Malaga this summer, although the 18-year-old prospect is expected to be loaned out, having previously captured other bright prodigies such as Vakhtang Salia, Miodrag Pivas and Baran Yildiz under Howe.
What Newcastle United could do next in the transfer market
Not only are the Magpies trying to sign a new goalkeeper in Trafford, but Howe is also pushing to land a striker.
Newcastle United have spoken to Brighton No.9 Joao Pedro about a move to Tyneside, and the Brazilian is even believed to have told Howe he is willing to play out wide to help a deal materialise.
However, the South American could end up replacing Alexander Isak – who Liverpool are lurking to sign amid ongoing contract discussions between the Swede and Newcastle United.
