Yoshinori Muto has departed Newcastle United to join La Liga outfit Eibar on loan for the 2020/21 campaign, as confirmed on the club’s official website.
The 28-year-old striker arrived at the Magpies in 2018 but managed just two goals in 28 appearances for the club.
His new charges kicked off their campaign at the weekend with a 0-0 draw against Celta Vigo and Muto will now bolster their attack.
Muto signed from Mainz for a £9 million fee with Rafa Benitez opting to take the striker from the Bundesliga.
The man with three goals in 29 games for Japan has failed to make an impact in the Premier League and he’d fallen way down the pecking order.
Boss Steve Bruce has added Callum Wilson to his ranks this season and that has nudged Muto further down the pecking order.
Following today’s announcement fans have been reacting on Twitter to the news that Muto has opted for a temporary switch elsewhere.
Most are pleased to finally see him head out but there have been plenty of well wishes ahead of his stint in La Liga.
Here is a selection of Tweets from the Newcastle supporters as the £54,000-a-week Muto leaves the Premier League outfit on loan.
Never got given a chance… and should have if you ask me, but this happens at Nufc!! All the best @yoshimuto18 you never complained once! Prove people wrong.
