Newcastle United fans ecstatic for Salomon Rondon after record breaking international brace

The striker scored twice as Venezuela defeated USA 3-0.

Venezuela defeated the United States 3-0 in Cincinnati yesterday in what was a surprisingly one-sided affair.

The South American side, playing their final Copa America warm-up, took the USA apart and fully deserved the win.

The star of the show was the now former Newcastle United loanee Salomon Rondon.

He scored two of the three goals for his country. It was also from his headed flick-on that Venezuela scored their second goal.

The brace took Rondon to 24 goals for his country, surpassing Juan Arango as his nation’s top scorer of all time.

It was yet another display that had Newcastle United fans lamenting the fact he is not currently their player.

Rondon was only on loan at the club from West Brom last season but thrived under Rafa Benitez.

As reported by The Chronicle, Rondon is available at £16.5 million this summer, a fee Newcastle are not prepared to pay for a player over the age of 27.

But as it appears he is heading into the best form of his career Newcastle fans are clearly hopeful that the club revisit that policy for the immensely popular Venezuelan.
