Three keys to Newcastle United defeating Burnley

Newcastle United will look to build on some recent good form when they face Burnley this evening.

The Clarets arrive at St. James’ Park in confident form themselves having just beaten Tottenham at the weekend.

Rafa Benitez’s men have played well of late though and will fancy their chances of another three points this evening.

Ahead of the Premier League contest, we looked at three keys to Newcastle claiming another win…

Supply and demand

Salomon Rondon has netted some important goals already this season.

His took his tally to seven for the campaign in Saturday’s win over Huddersfield and he has proved he can score goals provided he gets the right service.

The Magpies will look to get their creative players on the ball in order to give Rondon the best possible chance of boosting his total further.

Stop an in-form duo

Newcastle will come up against Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes tonight, with the pair in blistering form.

The Burnley strike force has contributed eight goals in the last four games between them and a close eye must be kept on the duo.

Benitez’s men have looked a lot more organised at the back of late, however, and a similar performance will be required this evening.

Repeat of November

One of Newcastle’s better performances during the first half of the current campaign came at Turf Moor in November.

A Ben Mee own goal and a strike from Ciaran Clark handed the Magpies a vital three points but it was the performance that was perhaps most pleasing.

Newcastle dug in and ground out the victory despite late pressure from the hosts.

Inspiration can be taken from that showing this evening.
