Newcastle Transfer Latest July 2013
With transfers underway, Newcastle are on the search for a new striker and other additions to next season’s squad.
Here we look at possible signings for the Magpies, bolstering their line up for the year ahead.
James Tomkins – West Ham
James Tomkins, a West Ham centre back is a potential transfer for Newcastle.
If an agreement was reached between the player and the Magpies, a new centre back signing would allow for the departure of Mike Williamson, wanted by his former Watford boss Malky Mackay at Cardiff.
However, Tomkins is valued at £5 million by West Ham, stretching Newcastle’s budget, with the signing of a striker the main priority this summer.
Darren Bent – Aston Villa
Newcastle are in need of striker, feeling former England starter Bent could be a successful attacking addition to next season’s line up.
Aston Villa have allowed Bent to leave, leaving the Magpies to try and tempt the forward to sign for their club.
Andre-Pierre Gignac – Marseille
Marseille striker Andre-Pierre Gignac is stalling over a move to Newcastle United, valued at £12 million.
Despite Newcastle’s interest, the 27 year old French international is hoping for a move to a bigger club, putting the transfer in doubt.
Wilfried Bony – Vitesse Arnhem
Another striker on the Magpies’ radar is 24 year old Vitesse star Wilfried Bony.
Other clubs are also looking to complete a deal for Bony, including Swansea, who have apparently come to an agreement with Vitesse Arnhem for the Ivory Coast international.
