WORST Premier League Loan XI 21/22

Predominantly a defensive midfield player, Asllani has enjoyed a fine campaign in Serie A after making the jump up from youth levels at the start of this season. Indeed, he made more than 20 appearances this term for Empoli in what was an eye-catching debut season in Serie A.

Newcastle, meanwhile, are looking to strengthen their ranks ahead of the new season. A fine finish to the season under Eddie Howe ensured a mid-table finish, with PIF now ready to back Howe in the market.

TBR’s View: Asllani One For The Future For Newcastle

It will be key for Newcastle under PIF to not only buy for the here and now, but add players who can bring something down the line for years to come.

The likes of Chelsea and Manchester City have invested heavily in young talent in the last decade and it’s served them well in terms of sell on value. Asllani would be this sort of player for Newcastle, albeit he is looking like he might be ready to play right now.

Interest is high in Asllani and Newcastle will need to show their muscle here to do a deal.
