Report: Newcastle reach decision on duo; £4.5m McClaren signing expected to leave
Newcastle United will allow both Henri Saivet and Emil Krafth to leave this summer, according to reports from the Sun.
They claim that Krafth will be allowed to leave, with Steve Bruce unsure if he can offer the Swedish player enough game time.
Saivet, meanwhile, will be allowed to walk away from the club after Newcastle opted against signing him to further terms. It represents a disappointing loss on a player Steve McClaren signed for around £4.5m back in 2016.
Manager Steve Bruce will be hoping to see a number of faces come and go this summer. After steering the Magpies to a comfortable finish, Bruce has not got some time to build at St James’ Park.
Krafth made 16 Premier League appearances last season but is likely to be down the pecking order this term.
The Sun claims the Swede can now go, with Newcastle said to be looking at no less than 44 players this summer. Who out of those 44 actually ends up joining, remains to be seen.
Bruce will be looking for some backing this summer, and deservedly so.
Despite not being the most exciting team, Bruce managed to get Newcastle to a comfortable finish and when he had his best players like Saint-Maximin and Almiron fully fit, the difference was stark.
Hopefully Bruce can wheel and deal a bit this summer. If he does get the right faces through the door, then the Magpies could really push on.
