Newcastle target Tammy Abraham would be perfect for Rafael Benitez
Newcastle United’s January target Tammy Abraham would be an excellent addition to the squad at St James’ Park if they can secure a deal.
According to the Northern Echo, the Magpies are prepared to battle Crystal Palace for the striker if Chelsea decide to offload him permanently in January, something that has been suggested as a possibility.
The 21-year-old is currently on loan at Aston Villa in the Championship, but Premier League clubs are waiting to try snatch him away in the New Year.
It is understood that Rafael Benitez’s side missed out on the England Under-21 international when he joined Swansea City on loan in 2017 despite initially agreeing a switch to Newcastle.
The report further details that Palace could now be prepared to pay around £10million for Abraham and Newcastle would have to chase a permanent move, as they have already used up their two domestic loan spots.
Abraham would be able to tear it up at St James’ Park and is a youngster destined for a great career.
The in-form centre-forward has scored 12 goals in just 16 appearances so far this campaign for Villa and is lethal at Championship level.
He managed eight goals last season in a struggling Swansea team that were relegated from the Premier League and needs another crack at the top flight.
Abraham could battle with Salomon Rondon for a starting position under Benitez and he’s a well balanced striker that is strong in most areas of his game.
