Newcastle United are reportedly keen on Huddersfield Town attacker Steve Mounie, but signing him would be a backwards step.
TEAMtalk reports that the Magpies are one of several teams keen on the 24-year-old this summer.
It is understood that Newcastle are joined by Crystal Palace, Watford and Bournemouth in making enquires for him.
The report also explains that Huddersfield look likely to sell the centre-forward, as they prepare for life in the Championship following relegation from the Premier League last season.
Mounie has scored 11 goals in 63 appearances of Huddersfield since he joined them in 2017.
The £35,000-a-week ace (Spotrac) looks unlikely to follow them into the Championship and it seems like there are several teams keen on signing him.
But Newcastle should stay clear of him this summer.

Mounie has had two full seasons in the Premier League and not done enough to suggest he can be a prolific goalscorer.
The Benin international offers a physical presence at striker, but is hardly the type of player that can help the Magpies kick on at the table at St James’ Park.
He would certainly be a backwards step from loanee Salomon Rondon last season and he’s the type of addition that would improve the team.
Newcastle are of course in a period of uncertainty until they appoint a successor to Rafael Benitez, but to try move up the table next season they need to try somehow find a 15-goal strike.
