Newcastle United are reportedly interested in versatile ace Christopher Nkunku from French giants Paris Saint-Germain.
According to the Daily Mail in its print edition (11 January 2019, page 85), the 21-year-old is on the radar of the Magpies.
It’s unclear on how much it would cost to sign the Frenchman, but he would be a marquee addition if Rafael Benitez could secure a deal to bring him to St James’ Park.
Nkunku is in the first team of European heavyweights PSG and made 16 appearances across all competitions this season, but had to make do with numerous roles as a substitute.
He is a central midfielder by trade that likes to get on the ball, but has shown he’s more than capable as a winger too with his agility and attacking prowess.
Newcastle’s transfer business has been fairly uninspiring in recent years, but they do now have an extremely highly-rated talent in sight.
Nkunku desperately needs regular game time to reach his potential, but he appears to be a promising player and could be the extra bit of quality that Benitez needs in his squad.
The France Under-21 international has a low centre of gravity that helps him hurt defenders going forward and he’s chipped in with two senior goals so far this campaign.
He clearly has something special to be involved with PSG and Newcastle should ramp up interest to try sign him on loan or on a permanent basis.
Benitez is lacking quality in both the midfield and wide area, which is why Nkunku could be a masterstroke addition.
