Newcastle have reportedly joined the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City in the race to sign Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar – and Toon supporters have reacted on Twitter, seemingly in favour of a move for the French star.

Aouar, 21, has showcased his talent on the Champions League stage this season – having a hand in four goals during his five appearances in the continential competition. He scored against Leipzig, and laid on a stunning assist to beat Juventus.

The Sun claim Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool are all keeping tabs on the Lyon academy product for a fee of £65million. He has a contract with his boyhood club, with whom he has played 133 times, until the summer of 2023.

French newspaper L’Equipe have stated this week that the exciting midfielder is to be sold in the coming months in order to help Lyon remain above board financially, with the French government suspending football until September.

Now, French site Foot-sur-7 have claimed that Newcastle have joined the race to sign Aouar with the midfielder the latest big-name player to be linked with a move to Tyneside. A takeover is edging closer, and Aouar could be a target for the new owners.

Newcastle supporters have reacted on Twitter to the news that their club are considering a move for Aouar, and many Toon fans think he would be an excellent addition for their club – but the majority are waiting for a takeover to be confirmed first.
