Newcastle supporters react as Jarrod Bowen impresses for West Ham

Jarrod Bowen chose to join West Ham United in the January transfer window amid reported interest from Newcastle United – and Toon supporters have reacted to his display on Sunday afternoon at St. James’ Park.

Bowen, 23, joined West Ham after scoring 17 goals and creating six more in 32 games for Hull City this season. The Guardian claim the Hammers splashed out £22million to land the impressive winger, and he has started well.

Despite signing in January, which is always tough, and having just seven previous Premier League appearances to his name – Bowen has impressed. He has had a hand in four goals during his eight Hammers outings.

Scoring once, he has created three more and notched an assist to open the scoring on Sunday, as his cross was turned into the roof of the net by Michail Antonio – following a mistake from Toon captain Jamaal Lascelles.

The Chronicle claimed Newcastle wanted Bowen in January but with Hull looking to receive a figure north of £20million, they decided against paying such a fee for a player that has little-to-no Premier League experience.

Newcastle fans have reacted on Twitter to Bowen’s display and many discussed what could have been had the winger moved to Tyneside instead of east London – and many suggested the Toon made a mistake in overlooking him.
