Turkish outlet Fotomac claim Newcastle United defender Javi Manquillo is likely to be the first casualty of the prospective takeover this summer – with Fenerbahce looking to pick the right-back up on a free transfer, and Toon fans have responded.
Manquillo, 25, is out of contract at the end of the season but has remained in and out of the current side under Steve Bruce. This season, the former Liverpool and Sunderland defender has played 13 times in the Premier League.
However, Newcastle already boast three right-sided defenders including Manquillo – with DeAndre Yedlin and Emil Krafth also at the club. Jamie Sterry is also an option at right-back, making a new deal for Manquillo more than unlikely.

The report claims that the impending takeover is likely to see Newcastle avoid handing a fringe player such as Manquillo a new deal. Fenerbahce are expected to take advantage, and bring the former Atletico Madrid star to Turkey on a free.
It remains to be seen if Manquillo is open to a move to Turkey, but it looks increasingly likely that the player will not sign a new deal on Tyneside, given the takeover reportedly set to be announced in the coming days.
Newcastle supporters have reacted on Twitter to the news that Manquillo – who has played 59 times since his £4.5million (Sun) move in 2017 – could be about to swap Tyneside for Turkey. Many feel he deserved a new deal.
