Newcastle United and West Ham United have reportedly joined newly-promoted sides Leeds United and Fulham in the race to sign out-of-favour Arsenal star Calum Chambers this summer – and Toon supporters have responded on Twitter.
Chambers, 25, broke into the Arsenal starting line-up under Unai Emery during the first half of last season and was being used by Mikel Arteta in the Spaniard’s first games in charge – until he suffered a long-term injury against Chelsea in December.
Since then, Arteta has established an identity and a new formation. He has also brought in Pablo Mari and Gabriel at centre-back, pushing Chambers down the pecking order – with William Saliba also returning to the club after a loan at St. Etienne.
TeamTalk have claimed that following a u-turn on Rob Holding’s future, Chambers has been made available. Newcastle were in talks to sign Holding, but it appears they have turned their attention to Chambers with Arsenal ready to keep Holding.
However, Newcastle are not alone in pursuit of Chambers. Leeds have been linked for much of the summer and they remain keen, while Fulham want to bring him back to Craven Cottage. West Ham want to keep Chambers in London.
Rated at £12million, it is of little surprise that Chambers is attracting interest from Premier League clubs and Newcastle supporters have taken to Twitter. Many believe he would be a good addition for Steve Bruce’s men.
I'd take him purely for his ability to play CB and RB. Has there been links?

Bruce is trying to add a bit more youth/legs to the CBs available in the squad. Clark and Fernandez are both in their 30s and their contracts are running down. Shar and Lejeune both 29 and in the last two years of their contracts. It would make total sense… if it wasn’t a loan
