Newcastle United have reportedly made an ambitious approach to sign Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly and are supposedly in talks to nab the Senegal giant’s signature – and Toon supporters have reacted on Twitter.
Koulibaly, 28, is currently recognised as one of Europe’s best central defenders, having helped Napoli remain unbeaten in this season’s Champions League. He has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League.
Newcastle are potentially closing in on a takeover that would see the Toon be financially in a position to sign players of Koulibaly’s calibre. French outlet Foot Mercato claim Newcastle are in talks to sign the former Genk colossus.

The report states that any interested parties – with Everton and Chelsea keen in recent weeks – must meet their asking price for the defender, which is believed to be in the region of £70million. It would see Napoli make a huge profit, after signing him for just £8.7million (ESPN).
Newcastle do have plenty of options at centre-back, with the likes of Jamaal Lascelles, Fabian Schar and Federico Fernandez considered some of The Toon’s best players. But Koulibaly would get into any Premier League side.
Newcastle supporters have reacted on Twitter to the news that their club are being linked with a move for the Senegal international, and Toon fans are excited over such a big player moving to Tyneside.
