Newcastle United are reportedly rivalling Everton over a move to sign Schalke’s midfielder Weston McKennie this summer – and Toon fans have responded by urging their club to complete a deal for McKennie.
McKennie, 21, is developing a reputation in the Bundesliga with Schalke as one of the best up-and-coming midfielders in the division – and certainly one of the best American products in recent years.
Following a similar course to that of Christian Pulisic who is shining at Chelsea after a spell with Borussia Dortmund, Gio Reyna at Dortmund and Werder Bremen striker Josh Sargent – McKennie thriving.

Such form – which has seen McKennie clock up 91 senior Schalke appearances – has caught admirers from the Premier League. German newspaper Bild have claimed both Everton and Newcastle are interested.
It is believed that USA international McKennie could depart if offers of £22.5million are received, with two other unnamed Premier League sides supposedly interested in luring McKennie to England.
Newcastle supporters are desperate to see McKennie side amid reports that their club are interested – takeover or not. Some believe he would massively boost the Toon, while one fan urged DeAndre Yedlin to facilitate a move.
