Newcastle supporters react as club reportedly consider January reunion

Newcastle United are reportedly considering a move to bring Jetro Willems back to the club in January, a year after the Dutch flyer last played for the Toon – and Newcastle supporters have reacted with delight on Twitter.

Willems, 26, is back in training after nearly a year on the sidelines – suffering a long-term knee problem while on loan at Newcastle from German side Eintracht Frankfurt. He went off in the first half of a 1-0 win over Chelsea.

The former PSV Eindhoven star is in the final year of his contract with Frankfurt and given his injury issues, it appears that Frankfurt are unwilling to offer the left-footer a new deal beyond next summer.

It makes him available on a pre-contract arrangement which would cost Newcastle nothing – or for a cut-price figure in January if Newcastle feel they need him urgently. The Shields Gazette claim Newcastle are considering a move.

Is PSGs Business Model Destined To Fail?

The Toon brought in Danny Rose on loan from Tottenham to replace the loss of Willems but the England ace has since returned to Spurs – with Newcastle instead choosing to sign Northern Ireland international Jamal Lewis.

However, Paul Dummett’s lack of form and proneness to injury may tempt Steve Bruce into bringing another left-sided defender to the club – and Toon fans have reacted to reports surrounding a potential Willems move.
