Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United loanee Odion Ighalo this summer, with the Nigerian expected to return to parent club Shanghai Shenhua for the start of the Chinese season in July – and Toon fans have reacted.
Ighalo, 30, was a shock signing for Manchester United in the January window as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looked to bring in a striker following an injury sustained by Marcus Rashford. However, Ighalo has since proved himself.
The former Watford man has netted four goals in eight appearances for Manchester United before the global health crisis struck – preventing the Nigerian from pulling on a United shirt more than he already has done.

Indeed, there is a chance that he may have played his last game for United, given Shenhua expect Ighalo to return to their side in July when the Chinese Super League starts – unless a permanent deal is arranged.
Sky Sports claim that Manchester United have been joined in their pursuit of Ighalo by Newcastle – with Shenhua requesting a fee of £20million for the Nigeria international. Some reports have claimed a Newcastle takeover could occur this week.
Newcastle supporters reacted on Twitter to reports that their club could look to lure Ighalo to Tyneside in the coming months, with many discussing whether he could be a good signing for Steve Bruce’s side.
