Newcastle United star Miguel Almiron has addressed the recent speculation linking him with a move to Real Madrid, describing the notion of playing for the club as ‘an honour’.
TyC Sports reported last week that Madrid were watching the Paraguay international in action at the Copa America.
Almiron only signed for the Magpies in January for £20 million (ESPN), but has already impressed in the Premier League.

The attacking midfielder played 10 games before suffering a hamstring injury, and fans are excited to see what he can bring to the team in 2018/19 having now settled in.
That is, if he remains at St. James’ Park as Real could make an offer if they offload James Rodriguez.
Speaking about Real’s reported interest, Almiron said in a press conference (quoted by The Chronicle): “No, I do not know anything about that.
“For me it’s an honour that a team like that [Real Madrid] looks at me, but I’m not aware of anything and now I’m focused on the Copa America, and then Newcastle.”
TBR’s view
Almiron’s comments are likely to panic some Newcastle fans given the mess the club are currently in.
Rafa Benitez is officially leaving the club after failing to reach an agreement with owner Mike Ashley, which could leave the 25-year-old open to being poached.

The disarray could well turn the player’s head, with Real Madrid obviously one of the biggest clubs in the world.
Certainly if the proposed Bin Zayed Group takeover does not come to fruition, Almiron may want to push for a move knowing quality players likely won’t be coming in.
That said, a move is surely very unlikely.
