Newcastle United forward Ayoze Perez has been linked with a surprise summer move to Napoli.

Calciomercato claim the Partenopei are keen on signing the Spaniard, who has shown some good form since the turn of the calendar year.

Perez has been linking up well with fellow Spanish speakers Miguel Almiron and Salomon Rondon, and now finds himself the subject of apparent interest from the Serie A club.

Perez has been with Newcastle since 2014 after signing from hometown club Tenerife.

To date, he has made 190 appearances for the Magpies and scored 42 goals.

Perhaps Perez may be tempted by a move to Naples after a solid stint for the Toon Army, but they should be asking for a promising player who doesn’t get much of a look-in in return.

TBR’s view

Newcastle should enquire over the availability of Adam Ounas if Perez wants to join Napoli following their interest.

Ounas is into his second season with the club following his transfer from Bordeaux, but the 22-year-old is still not a regular in the side.

Maurizio Sarri used him sparingly in his debut campaign, and it’s been a similar story for the player under Carlo Ancelotti.

He’s featured in 24 games (only eight of which have been starts), and arguably his raw talents are being wasted at the Stadio San Paolo.

Algeria international Ounas is a vibrant and versatile attacking midfielder who is capable of turning defenders inside-out with his mazy dribbling.

He would be a brilliant and shrewd replacement for Perez if Newcastle find themselves needing to sell.
