Newcastle United striker Salomon Rondon has become something of a hit at St. James’ Park.
The hitman on loan from West Bromwich Albion has earmarked himself as the Magpies’ main man up top this term.
With six goals and three assists to his name, he has been Rafa Benitez’s biggest attacking threat in what has been another tough season in front of goal as a collective.

Rondon’s numbers are not amazing by any stretch, but his physical style and relentless nature make him an annoyance for opposition defences.
His contributions surely warrant Newcastle paying to take him permanently at the end of the season, but West Brom have slapped a £16 million price tag on his head, as reported by The Northern Echo.
Joselu sale can allow easy Rondon deal
£16 million could potentially be a problem, as owner Mike Ashley is understood to be worried about the player’s age and sell-on value.
Ashley balked at the £16 million asking price last summer, which ultimately led to his current loan move as opposed to a permanent switch.
The report claims West Brom would accept Dwight Gayle plus £6 million for Rondon, but Newcastle may want to keep hold of the Englishman for 2019/202o following his goalscoring exploits in the Championship this term (16 strikes so far).
Something Newcastle should consider is selling Joselu to raise some funds to put towards buying Rondon.

Gayle could be useful, but Joselu has proven on many occasions that he simply doesn’t have the quality to succeed at St. James’. His record of six goals in 43 games so far for the club is poor.
The Chronicle recently reported that Benitez actually rejected a tempting bid for Joseul in January
If Newcastle can perhaps find a buyer willing to look past his goalscoring troubles, then they shouldn’t think twice about cashing in and in turn, landing Rondon as one of their own.
