Last summer, Newcastle United addressed their striker issue by signing Salomon Rondon on loan from West Bromwich Albion for the season.
And the Venezuela international has surpassed all expectations with nine goals and five assists in the league for the Magpies.
The 29-year-old is crucial to the way Newcastle play by using his physical frame to hold the ball up, bring others into play and cause problems for the opposition defence.
When the transfer window opens in the summer, a permanent deal for Rondon has to be Newcastle’s first priority as Rafa Benitez tries to bolster his squad.
But Newcastle will also have a contingency plan in case this fails. This is where Hoffenheim striker Joelinton could come in.

According to The Sun, Newcastle could smash their transfer record by signing Joelinton for £40m.
The 22-year-old has scored seven goals in the Bundesliga this season and 11 in all competitions, as well as registering six assists.
Joelinton would be a risk, especially at £40m, but he is worth checking on if Newcastle can drive his asking price down.
But the Brazilian striker should not be Newcastle’s number one striker target. Rondon should remain the priority and a swoop for Joelinton should only be explored if West Brom refuse to sell.
