Newcastle winger Jacob Murphy is attracting interest from Championship promotion-chasers West Bromwich Albion, according to the Express and Star.
They report that the Baggies are searching for a replacement for Harvey Barnes, who shone at the Hawthorns in the early part of the season before he was recalled by Leicester earlier in the month.
Darren Moore apparently likes that Murphy can play on both wings and as a number 10 – just like Barnes – and wants him on loan until the end of the season.
Murphy earned his Magpies move via his performances for Norwich in the Championship and he may discover his form in the second tier.
Murphy has made just the three starts this season and Rafa Benitez’s reported pursuit of Atletico Madrid winger Gelson Martins makes for a clear exchange.
But Newcastle are apparently on the back foot in the chase for Martins, with the player preferring a move to French crisis club Monaco, who have already removed manager Thierry Henry just three months into his reign.
And Benitez’s squad is so thin that he cannot allow a player to leave – even one like Murphy who hasn’t played much – without having a replacement lined up.
