Newcastle United did record an impressive 3-2 away win at West Ham in the Premier League at the weekend, but they do have an ongoing problem in front of goal.
Jonjo Shelvey is the Magpies top scorer this season with just two goals and main striker Joelinton has only managed one so far.
There is a lot of promise from the attacking trio of Joelinton, Miguel Almiron and Allan Saint-Maximin, but there is very little goal output right now and they could do with more competition in the squad.
Newcastle manager Steve Bruce should be desperate for one extra attacker in January and needs to try convince the club’s hierarchy into allowing a move.
One player that should crop up on their radar is Karlan Grant, who is tearing it up in the Championship with Huddersfield Town right now and would be a major hit at St James’ Park.

According to the Sun, Premier League duo Bournemouth and Wolverhampton Wanderers are prepared to battle it out for his signature in the January transfer window.
It is understood that Huddersfield would make a “huge profit” on the £2million they paid for Grant back in January, if they do consider allowing his exit.
Grant has already scored nine goals in 15 Championship appearances this campaign and is one of the standout players in the division.
The 22-year-old forward is usually a serious goal threat through the centre with his pace, but can operate from the left flank too cutting inside onto his favoured right foot.
His brief spell in the top-flight last season saw him score four times in 13 Premier League games for a struggling Huddersfield side and there is no doubt he’s got the quality to return to the top level.
Newcastle are crying out for more goals in their side and a clinical finisher like Grant would be a brilliant target.
