Newcastle United should be worried about the long-term future of dazzler Miguel Almiron, as there has already been reported interest in him this summer.

The Magpies fans are coming to terms with the departure of Rafael Benitez, who has now officially left St James’ Park and didn’t extend his deal beyond the summer.

His exit could have serious repercussions in the North East, depending on who arrives to replace him and how the club move forward.

According to TyC Sports, Real Madrid have an interest in Almiron and have been impressed by his displays for Paraguay at the Copa America.

Meanwhile, the Mirror have reported that a £35million fee could be enough to prize the winger away from St James’ Park this summer.

Newcastle paid £20million (BBC) to sign Almiron back in January and he looks a bright prospect that could light up the Premier League.

The 25-year-old is a speed machine that quickly became a fan favourite and should be able to hit the ground running next season after a full pre-season.

But does the Benitez exit change his potential future?

Benitez was arguably the most important figure at Newcastle and having a top-class manager at the helm can be enough to persuade players to join.

Almiron made the move at the beginning of the year under Benitez’s tenure, so will the manger’s departure change his way of thinking?

Newcastle may have unearthed a gem in the South American winger and need to ensure he stays around for the foreseeable future to see what type of impact he can make in England.

But it’s a worry that a team like Madrid are sniffing around and surely he will have an eye on leaving if Newcastle aren’t ambitious.
