Newcastle United aren’t completely out of the woods for relegation this season, but are six points above the drop zone and have won two of their last three Premier League games.
Providing they are still in the top flight, the Magpies need to continue strengthening their squad in the summer to help them move up the table.
One player that should pop up on Rafael Benitez’s radar is Aaron Mooy, who looks destined to relegation with Huddersfield Town as it stands.
Huddersfield sit bottom of the Premier League right now 14 points from safety with only nine games remaining.
Mooy is arguably the outstanding individual for the Terriers and would be a decent addition next year for a Premier League team.
Newcastle should throw their name into the mix to try bring the Australia international to St James’ Park.
Mooy has been a shining light for Huddersfield since their promotion to the top flight over 18 months ago and was a big reason behind them staying in the division last season.
The central midfielder can be a goal threat that is useful when going forward and has proven himself to be effective against high-profile opponents.
He is a technically gifted ace that has a great range of passing too and could be an excellent option to be at Benitez’s disposal.
Mooy, who earns £50,000-a-week (Spotrac), is a 28-year-old coming to the peak years of his career and could be even better in a stronger team.
