Newcastle United’s Sean Longstaff has reportedly been watched by Tottenham scouts.
According to the Guardian, the Magpies midfielder is one of several young talents that has cropped up on the Spurs radar.
The 21-year-old has enjoyed a senior breakthrough at St James’ Park this season, but is unfortunately sidelined now with a knee injury.
Longstaff has come through the North East club’s academy and was becoming quite the force in the first team before his injury setback.
The no-nonsense central midfielder cemented his spot in Rafael Benitez’s team and was a physical presence in front of the backline.
He also demonstrated great maturity for a youngster with his composure on the ball and the range of passing to his game.

It’s unclear on if Spurs would be prepared to step up interest in Longstaff, but Newcastle definitely have a good reason to be fearful that one of their prized assets could be snatched away.
Spurs are an attractive side in England that are moving into a new stadium and are in the Champions League quarter-finals this campaign.
Benitez needs to keep his best players if he is to grow Newcastle into a side that can push for a European finish and that means keeping their best players.
Longstaff was definitely showings signs he can be a mainstay moving forward and Spurs’ presence is a concern.
