Newcastle set sights on being Premier League surprise package
The upcoming Premier League season is looking good as many teams have added to their squads to strengthen. The team that will be surprising many will be Newcastle United. Alan Pardew has brought in 8 new players in this summer transfer window, Daryl Janmaat from Feyenoord, Jack Colback from Sunderland, Remy Cabella from Montpellier, Emmanuel Riviere from Monaco, Siem De Jong from Ajax, Facundo Ferreyra from Shakhtar Donetsk, and Nottingham Forest duo Jamaal Lascelles & Karl Darlow.
Many think that these players can really rejuvenate Newcastle back to a top 5 finish like 2 years ago. The players they have brought in are absolute quality and most of them have had great pre seasons, particularly Siem De Jong & Remy Cabella, both scoring and playing very well. Alan Pardew has sold a few players but nothing too big, besides Yohan Cabaye in January and Loic Remy’s loan spell concluding, they think they have their replacements.
After a mediocre season last campaign, The Magpies will have lots of belief that this season they can challenge to get back into European football. Last time Newcastle were in Europe, they ended up near relegation, but now with the quality players brought into the squad, they have more depth to their squad. They have brought in 17 year old Adam Armstrong to the first team and he seems like an exciting prospect. It will be interesting to see if this new looking Newcastle side can gel under Alan Pardew.
They begin the next Barclays Premier League season with a home match against newly crowned Champions of England, Manchester City. Then they have an away match to Aston Villa and a home match against Crystal Palace. There is lots of anxious and excited fans in and around the Toon, It looks a bit like a new era, can Newcastle live up to the hype?
