Newcastle United could finally get their hands on young French striker, Hugo Ekitike, with the Magpies favourites to sign him this summer.
The Toon have had Ekitike on their radar since January when a deal was nearly done to bring the young Reims striker to St James’ Park. Alas, that deal never got complete and since then, talk about Ekitike’s future has continued in both the French and English media.

And today, in a report issued by Daily Mercato, Reims club president, Jean-Pierre Caillot, confirmed that he sees a move to a club like Newcastle as the most logical for Ekitike right now.
“It ‘s typically the kind of environment where he could continue to grow and move on,” Caillot said of Newcastle’s interest in Ekitike.
Interestingly, the president confirms that he is likely to accept an offer for Ektike which is lower than £20m, with a few add-ons in place for the future. This is, of course, a far cry from the £33m figure mentioned back in the winter window, when clubs like Chelsea and more were also keeping tabs.
Touted as ‘very special’ talent, Hugo Ekitike is bound to among plenty of reports as the summer moves on, if Newcastle don’t act fast.
TBR’s View: Hugo Ekitike To Newcastle Seems A Case Of When, Not If
You just get the sense that Magpies really like the look of the young Frenchman and with that, could do everything in their power to get him.
Ekitike is an electric player and should, in theory, get better and better with time. It’s obvious why Newcastle like him, and his sell-on value is also something the club will consider.
Of course, money doesn’t really matter to the Toon now. But they will still need to be sensible in the market. At less than £20m, Ekitike looks a bit of a bargain.
