Newcastle United don’t really have a lot left to play for in the Premier League this season. Boss Rafa Benitez has already steered the team clear of relegation and they won’t compete for a European place.
Eyes will soon be cast towards next season and the first thing on the agenda will be tying Benitez to a longer contract. His deal is up in the summer and he is yet to sign fresh terms.
Provided he sticks around the club will probably look to make some additions to the squad ahead of next season. The Spaniard will want to progress the club and that will require new players.
Out wide Newcastle have a few issues. One man who could definitely strengthen the Magpies squad is Ryan Fraser.
The Bournemouth trickster will be the subject of vast interest this summer and Benitez simply must entertain a bid.
At 25-years-old the winger is yet to hit his peak. In 38 games played this season he has bagged eight goals and contributed 12 assists to Eddie Howe’s team.
Benitez’s team has lacked a cutting edge at times this season. If they can keep hold of Salomon Rondon, then he will thrive on the service which Fraser provides.
The former Ipswich man is only being paid £27k-a-week (Spotrac) at the Vitality Stadium, so he would represent value for money for the Magpies too.
