Barreca and Almiron sign
Newcastle United have completed two signings on deadline day.
The club’s official website confirmed the arrival of Miguel Almiron from Atlanta United on a five-and-a-half year deal.
The 24-year-old Paraguay international plays as an attacking midfielder and is reportedly a club record transfer (BBC Sport).
And before Almiron arrived, Monaco left-back Antonio Barreca signed on loan with an option to buy, Newcastle’s website announced.
Aarons and Lazaar heading to Sheffield Wednesday
Rolando Aarons and Achraf Lazaar are both set to leave the club on temporary arrangements.
Sky Sports News are reporting that Aarons and Lazaar are heading to Sheffield Wednesday on loan until the end of the season.
Aarons, who plays on the left wing, has failed to live up to the early hype in his career and has seen injury halt his progress.
Left-back Lazaar does not feature in Rafa Benitez’s plans and Barreca’s arrival means he can leave.
Matt Ritchie linked with exit
According to TEAMtalk, Matt Ritchie could leave Newcastle before the end of the transfer window.
The 29-year-old was the hero for Newcastle last Tuesday, scoring the winner against Manchester City.
But Ritchie wants to move down south for family reasons, although Newcastle do not want to lose their versatile left-footed star.
