Newcastle United have reportedly entered the race to sign Aurelien Tchouameni.

Italian outlet Sport Mediaset has claimed that the Magpies have “moved” into contention for the Monaco midfielder.

As well as Newcastle, the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City are also apparently eyeing Tchouameni.

Previous reports from TuttoJuve say Monaco have informed both Liverpool and Manchester City that the Frenchman would cost them £42million.

However, Chelsea are said to be leading the charge for Tchouameni, as they are willing spend upwards of £50million.

Tchouameni is one of the most talented youngsters in European football and Newcastle fans should be thrilled about the speculation.

The 21-year-old came through the ranks at Bordeaux and joined Monaco in January 2020 for a reported £16.2million.

Tchouameni has already made 65 competitive appearances for Monaco and, since debuting for France in September, has won seven caps.

He is a rising star and fans have previously compared him to the likes of N’Golo Kante, Paul Pogba and Patrick Vieira.

Admittedly, Tchouameni would be a somewhat difficult player for Newcastle to land at this moment in time, certainly in January.

Some of the other teams reportedly after him are established in the Champions League and regularly compete for titles.

However, Newcastle certainly have the financial muscle to compete with them all.

And if the race for Tchouameni goes into the summer and Newcastle are still in the Premier League, things could get interesting.
