Newcastle United have reportedly sounded out Aberdeen’s Sam Cosgrove as a potential January addition.
According to the Scottish Sun, the Magpies are keen on the 24-year-old Englishman, who has a very respectable scoring record in Scottish football.
He’s bagged 45 goals in 94 games for Derek McInnes’ side with 26 of those coming last season, and is regarding by many as the best non-Old Firm striker in the division.

Apparently Newcastle having been making checks on the burly forward, and see him as a means of adding depth to their squad.
Steve Bruce currently has Callum Wilson and Joelinton, but Andy Carroll and Dwight Gayle’s injury records are concerning.
Aberdeen have previously shown willingness to cash in on Cosgrove, with the player supposedly rejecting a £2million-plus move to Guingamp in July.
TBR’s View – A low-risk move for Newcastle
Some have previously tipped Cosgrove to be a success in the Premier League on day.

The star is a real handful with his physicality and he could be tailor-made for the English top-flight.
There is a good chance Cosgrove would come fairly cheap given he only has 18 months left on his current deal, and there would be little risk for Newcastle in taking a gamble on him
