Newcastle reportedly in advanced talks over PSG youngster Moussa Sissako
Newcastle United are close to signing Paris Saint-Germain defender Moussa Sissako, according to French outlet RMC, via Get French Football News.
They report that the teenage defender has no future at the Ligue 1 champions under Thomas Tuchel and is in advanced negotiations with the Magpies.
The report also says that a deal is close to being done, with the personal terms and transfer fee both acceptable for both clubs.
Sissako has a contract until 2021 with PSG, and looks set to commit his future to what Steve Bruce is trying to do at St James’ Park.
Obviously, Sissako’s name will bring back memories of Moussa Sissoko, but Newcastle also look to be moving back towards an approach of exploiting the French market.
That may not please the supporters, just as getting another young player to follow Kyle Scott through the door will also likely not go down well.
Sissako may well have talent – the fact that PSG once tied him down to a long-term contract as a teenager suggests that – but Newcastle need more immediate solutions than he can offer them.
This one may well be a bargain – and that’s what Mike Ashley and Lee Charnley prioritise over everything – but it’s not what Steve Bruce needs now.
