Report: Newcastle have just signed their fifth player this month, deal completed before 11pm deadline
Newcastle United fans can get ready for another announcement tonight as the Sun is reporting that Dan Burn has come to a full agreement on a £13m transfer to the Northeast.
According to The Sun’s live transfer blog (20:25, 31/01/21), Newcastle have agreed terms, done the medical and are all set to announce the deal to sign Burn from Brighton. The defender will become the third defensive player to join the club this month, and fifth overall.
Newcastle have been backed heavily by new owners PIF and Eddie Howe must now get the very best out of his squad in order to survive the relegation threat posed. Burn, who is 6 foot 7, will bring stability and experience to the defence after impressing with Brighton in recent years.
Capable at both centre and left-back, Burn will be expected to go straight into the first-team picture under Howe.
TBR’s View: Burn A Great Newcastle Addition
Perfect signing, this. Newcastle needed some big talents but they also needed players with Premier League experience who can just slot in with no questions asked.
Burn is one of those player and at £13m, he hasn’t broken the bank either. Whether anyone else signs before the 11pm deadline remains to be seen. But Newcastle will no doubt be pushing for an attacker, after a deal for Hugo Ekitike broke down earlier today.
