Newcastle United are no strangers to signing players for the future, with the Magpies making it a mission or sorts to scoop up prospects with huge potential.

From Yankuba Minteh to Lewis Hall to Garang Kuol, Newcastle’s PIF owners have made it clear that the Toon want to bring in top youngsters from the world of football in an attempt to build a squad for the future that can compete for silverware.

Although some of these signings have already moved on from St. James’ Park, the mission statement is still clear for the Toon, with Newcastle this summer spending big to bring in William Osula from Sheffield United.

And it appears that Newcastle are now set to sign another wonderkid of sorts from Europe ahead of next summer.

Newcastle reach agreement to sign Georgia teenager Vakhtang Salia

According to Lelo, Newcastle have reached a full agreement with Dinamo Tbilisi for young forward Vakhtang Salia, who will make the move to St. James’ Park next summer after he has turned 18-years-old.

As per the report, Salia is viewed as the next ‘outstanding’ talent in Georgian football that in recent years has quickly evolved into one of the next hot spots in the game, with Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Liverpool goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili two of the best players in Europe.

And Newcastle are now moving in to get a slice of the action with Salia, who is already a Georgia youth international with the U-21s having this season scored in the UEFA Europa Conference League qualifiers with Tbilisi.

Indeed, the centre-forward has a lot of promise and could become a top player for Newcastle if Salia’s development continues in a positive direction in England, and the Toon could be making a great decision in moving for the Georgia wonderkid at this stage in his career.

Newcastle could have their next leading attacker on their hands

Any Premier League side signing a youngster from Europe is always going to have some concerns on if their development pans out like experts imagine it will, with Newcastle likely thinking the same right now with Salia.

Yet given how promising the striker is and where Salia is coming from, there’s a real chance that Newcastle could have an exceptional talent on their hands who could well be suited for the Premier League in the years to come.

Salia has shown this season in Europe that he can compete with the best, and at a club like Newcastle, the 17-year-old attacker’s true potential could become realised, with the sky the limit for the Georgia wonderkid ahead of his move to England next year.
