Report: Newcastle prepared to blow Liverpool away with £40m bid for ‘spectacular’ international playmaker

Newcastle United are looking ahead to the summer transfer window and have reportedly got a £40m offer ready for Napoli and Spain midfielder, Fabian Ruiz.

Ruiz, 25, is seen as one of the most prestigious talents in Serie A and Quiqie Santien once even described Ruiz as being a ‘spectacular’ footballer. Despite signing for Napoli for around £25m, the Italian side’s owners have insisted that they’d only consider selling Ruiz – and teammate Kalidou Koulibaly – for around £83m. Of course, that was in 2020 and financial picture may well have changed.

And according to Corriere dello Sport, Newcastle are prepared to test Napoli’s resolve with a £40m bid for Ruiz this summer. It comes as the publication also claims the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City, and Man United are all keen.

Newcastle are hoping to avoid relegation to ensure they can spend big this summer. And with an unbeaten run underway and a team vastly improved under Eddie Howe, it’s looking a realistic possibility.

Ruiz, who has 15 caps for Spain since making a 2019 debut, made his name with Betis before moving to Naples in 2018. Since then, he’s made more than 150 appearances for the Serie A side.

TBR’s View: Ruiz To Newcastle Would Get Fans Off Their Seats

Newcastle fans probably cannot wait until the summer. There’s going to be talk of so many players arriving that it will probably be hard to even keep track of. And if one of the players they land is Fabian Ruiz, then that will do just nicely.

The Spaniard is a class act capable of playing as a six, eight, or even a ten if needed. Stereotypical of a Spanish midfielder in the modern era, he is comfortable with the ball but not afraid to dish a bit of treatment out either.

Much like the signing of Bruno Guimaraes, you feel landing Ruiz would be something of a statement from PIF.
