Newcastle predicted XI v Leicester: £20k p/w ace returns as 'slow' ace retains his midfield place
Newcastle United will be looking to bounce back from the disappointment of last Sunday’s 2-0 defeat at home to Arsenal as they take on Leicester City tomorrow evening.
The Geordies were in pretty horrific form against the Gunners, registering just a single shot on target in an encounter they were thoroughly dominated in.
However, they take on the Foxes, looking to avoid four consecutive losses and a league double defeat against the Midlands outfit.
Steve Bruce’s men were beaten in a fairly even affair by Brendan Rodgers’ men in the reverse fixture with James Maddison and Youri Tielemans scoring before Andy Carroll grabbed a late consolation goal.
In terms of team news, the 60-year-old welcomes back £20k-per-week Joe Willock, who was ineligible to play against his parent club last weekend, meanwhile, Fabian Schar is banned for the next three Premier League games having received a straight red card for his foul on Gabriel Martinelli.
Across defence, Bruce will have to stick with Federico Fernadez, Ciaran Clark, and Paul Dummett with Jamaal Lascelles and Schar both out of action. Meanwhile, Matt Ritchie and Jacob Murphy should continue in their respective wing-back roles having secured the positions during the club’s recent run of good form.
With the return of Willock to action, his three consecutive game-winning goals should see him come in for Sean Longstaff, who was criticised for his performance against the north London outfit. Whilst Jonjo Shelvey should retain his deep-lying midfield position, despite have been described as ‘slow‘ by Alan Shearer after last week.
In attack, Callum Wilson’s return from a long lay-off was completed last week when he started for the first time since mid-February. And he should be joined by the electric duo of Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron.
Newcastle predicted XI v Leicester (5-2-1-2): Dubravka; Murphy, Fernandez, Clark, Dummett, Ritchie; Willock, Shelvey; Almiron; Wilson, Saint-Maximin.
