Newcastle United are reportedly targeting a summer move to sign AC Milan winger Rafael Leao, who could be on the move at the end of the season.
The Portuguese international has been strongly rumoured with an exit from the San Siro side in recent weeks, that’s despite Leao signing a new contract with Milan last summer with a release clause worth €175m (£150m).
Whilst the 24-year-old was incredible this season in Milan’s 2-1 win against Newcastle United that embarrassingly knocked the Magpies out of Europe, Leao’s form hasn’t been great in Serie A.

Yet according to Telefoot, that hasn’t stopped Newcastle from registering an interest in their former foe, with PSG also keen on signing Leao this summer, with the winger previously on LOSC Lille’s books.
Indeed, it’s clear that Leao is ready for a new challenge having seemingly hit his limit at Milan, and the Premier League could be an ideal destination for the Serie A forward.
However, given Newcastle’s financial situation and their current placing in the Premier League, it seems almost impossible to imagine a world where the Magpies would win the race to sign Leao.
Newcastle signing Rafael Leao currently belongs in the world of fantasy

Under Newcastle’s PIF owners, there’s really no limit to who the Toon could sign if financial restrictions didn’t exist, with the likes of Leao a realistic signing in such a world.
Yet on this planet we call Earth, such deals would be almost impossible for Newcastle to pull off, and Leao heading to Tyneside this summer already feels like an unlikely deal before anything’s really started.
Although the Magpies could one day make mega-signing transfers, we are some years away from Newcastle being able to do just that, with Leao included in this exclusive club.
As a result, Newcastle might already have to give up on their incredible dream of signing Leao, with PSG a more likely destination for the Milan superstar this year.
