Newcastle United’s maverick winger Allan Saint-Maximin is ready to get started for the Magpies following his summer move from Nice.

The Frenchman joined for £16.5 million and is raring to go judging by the interview he has given to The Chronicle.

There has been a lot of understandable negativity at St. James’ Park this summer following the departure of Rafa Benitez, but Saint-Maximin is keen to raise fans’ spirits with his exciting style.

He said: “Even in games, if I don’t score I want to run at defences when I get the ball. I know they like that.

“Scoring and making assists is the most important thing. But I will be running at them.

The 22-year-old is known for being a powerful runner down the wing, and when asked about his strength he said: “Physicality? Have you seen my body? It’s a bit different from others.

“You will see against Arsenal what I am all about.”

That said, it will be important for him to hit the ground running quickly as such an attitude can grate if the goods are not being produced.

There’s every chance Saint-Maximin will be a hit in the English top-flight though – the physicality he says he possesses will very likely stand him in good stead.
