Newcastle United are desperate for a win, but must make sure they deal with Watford’s Andre Gray in pursuit of a first victory.
The Magpies are second-bottom of the Premier League at the moment with just two points from 10 matches.
Rafael Benitez’s side are in a bad place, struggling to convert chances and leaking just enough goals at the back to lose games.
Saturday’s game at St. James’ Park sees the visit of Javi Gracia’s high-flying Hornets.
Within their ranks is Gray, who found the net on both occasions against Newcastle last season.
Gray threat, red alert
The striker enjoyed playing against the Magpies last term.
In the teams’ last league meeting in May, Gray scored a header at Vicarage Road and gave Jamaal Lascelles and Florian Lejeune all kinds of problems.
In the game before that in November, Gray struck from close range during the 3-0 win at St. James’ Park.
The striker seems to relish playing against the Toon Army, and Benitez’s team can’t afford to leave him unattended on Saturday.
This term Gray has scored three times in the Premier League, but hasn’t netted since the 1-1 draw with Fulham last month.
The Magpies will be hoping to see him named as a substitute, as has been the case for the player for the past few games. Issac Success has been Gracia’s latest experiment and the striker grabbed his first goal of the season against Huddersfield.
