Newcastle need to aim for Cole Palmer loan in January to start their rebuild
Newcastle should target Cole Palmer loan in January.
The Manchester City youngster is enjoying what looks like his breakout season.
The 19-year-old featured in the Community Shield in August and has continued to be in and around the first team.
He scored Champions League goal on Tuesday and he looks like a real talent.
However, at The Etihad he just won’t get the sort of game time that a player of his age needs.
So far, the teenager has managed two appearances in the Premier League amounting to just 22 minutes.
This is where Manchester City could look to give him some more minutes.
In the January transfer window there will no doubt be lots of clubs looking at bringing in midfield reinforcements.
Newcastle should target Cole Palmer loan in January
Newcastle United will no doubt be one of those clubs.
This could be a perfect opportunity for all parties.
Newcastle need a better midfield, Palmer needs consistent game time and Manchester City will want their starlet to get minutes.
Palmer has already shown his desire to get minutes and improve.
He recently played two games in the same day for City’s senior side and their u23s (The Standard).
When Pep Guardiola is willing to introduce a youth player into the senior side you know they’re a good option.
Palmer has been described by Pep as an “incredibly exceptional player” but more tellingly he’s given him a chance.
Should Palmer need some more experience, Newcastle is the perfect destination.
He’s make a good stop gap option to see Newcastle through to the summer and Man City don’t have to agree to having an option to buy.
