Newcastle must consider January swoop for Oleksandr Zinchenko

Newcastle United need some reinforcements in January and Oleksandr Zinchenko would be an excellent addition.

Zinchenko’s agent told Italian media outlet Radio Marte – via The Daily Mail – that his client would be open to leaving Manchester City for Napoli.

But Newcastle should rival the Italian side for Zinchenko, who would be a superb signing.

Newcastle currently look set for a relegation battle unless something changes quickly. They are still yet to pick up their first win of the season.

Zinchenko seems keen on leaving Man City with first-team chances looking limited. And while Newcastle cannot offer the Ukraine international Champions League football like Napoli, they could still tempt him.

Newcastle have a huge fan base, play in a top class stadium and have Rafa Benitez as manager. These are just three reasons why Zinchenko might fancy a switch to the North East.

And the Magpies’ options would be strengthened if Zinchenko arrived.

The 21-year-old is equally adept in central midfield or at left-back, strengthening two areas that need addressing.

If he played at left-back, Kenedy could move further forward. If he played in central midfield, he could be an immediate fix and a perfect partner for Jonjo Shelvey.

Zinchenko has a lot of potential and Newcastle definitely need to consider a move for him this January.
