Newcastle United midfielder Ki Sung-Yueng may well feel that the internatonal break is coming at a bad time for him on an individual note.
The 29-year-old has not been a regular in the side so far this campaign and certainly has a point to prove to manager Rafael Benitez.
His opportunity has arisen in the last two games due to Jonjo Shelvey’s injury and he came off the bench to lay on the assist during the 1-0 win over Watford.
The South Korean then earned his first Premier League start since September at the weekend and was a key player in the midfield in the 2-1 victory against Bournemouth.
Ki has shown he’s a pass master that can keep things tidy in the centre of the park and play an important role at St James’ Park.

But the international break could halt his momentum and Newcastle are hopeful that Shelvey will once again be available for selection in the upcoming fixtures.
It seems that there may only be room for one of Shelvey or Ki in the central midfield area and it’s the former that has had the nod so far this campaign.
Benitez will have a selection headache when both players are fit and Ki will hope he’s done enough to keep his spot in the XI.
