Newcastle United have reportedly made an approach for Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke.
According to The Telegraph, the Magpies have got in touch with the Cherries to enquire about their striker.
However, Newcastle have reportedly been told that Solanke is simply not for sale in the January transfer window.
The report says Magpies boss Eddie Howe has been looking to bring in a new centre-forward this month.
He remains a keen admirer of Solanke, who he signed for Bournemouth for a reported £19million in 2019.

The 27-year-old has been flying this term, leading to interest from other clubs in the Premier League.
Solanke is on 13 goals for the season, of which 12 – plus one assist – have come in the top-flight.
Understandably, Andoni Iraola is reportedly reluctant to let any of his strikers go this month.
Dango Ouattara and Antoine Semenyo are at the Africa Cup of Nations at present, so already their attacking ranks are depleted.
Wales international Kieffer Moore is the only other fit striker at the Vitality Stadium at present.
And despite interest from several Championship teams, Iraola is reluctant to let him go as well.
Newcastle and other suitors unlikely to get Dominic Solanke deal over the line in January – TBR View
Solanke is a great player in superb form, so you can understand why Newcastle have reportedly enquired about him.
However, they will struggle to pull off a deal for the ‘very complete’ £40million-rated striker in January for a number of reasons.
Solanke only penned a new contract in September, which runs until the summer of 2027. The Cherries’ hand is very strong at present, and the player doesn’t seem in any rush to leave.
In addition, with two Bournemouth attacking players away at the Africa Cup of Nations, there is no worse time for them to sell another attacking player at present, never mind the most prolific at the club at present.
It’ll be surprising if Newcastle – or indeed any other club – can make any more progress on the Solanke front in the coming weeks.
